Thailand in running to host MotoGP

BANGKOK, 3 April 2017: Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports says hosting the MotoGP, the world’s motorcycle racing championship for four years would, help to boost Thailand’s tourism industry. Thailand is at the final hurdle in he bidding process, which involves filing an official application to the global race owners this month for short-list consideration. Two venue slots are open in the world series with four countries vying for rights to host. Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said the Thai Cabinet approved, 21 March, a THB300-million budget to cover the licensing fee for Thailand to host the Moto GP annually from 2018 to 2020.
